The new integrated terminal
at Mangalore Airport, commissioned
in May this year, is
likely to be pressed into service by
August 1. Operations from the
existing terminal building will be
shifted to the new building, once
minor problems are resolved.
The Rs 160-crore integrated terminal
building of the Airports
Authority of India-owned airport
was inaugurated on May 15,
2010. The terminal building has
parking bays for five wide-bodied
aircraft. The apron can accommodate
three A-310 and two numbers
of A-321. The building has 18,220
sq. m area to handle 500 domestic
and 200 international passengers.
Meanwhile, the second runway
at the airport is being extended by
1,000 ft from the current 8,000 ft.
This extension will help the airport
get international status.
