Ambuja Cements earmarks Rs 1,800-cr capex

Ambuja Cements is mulling investment of Rs 1,800-crore by December 2013 for expanding capacity & new projects. The projects will be funded through internal accruals. The company plans to set up a 2.2-million-tonne clinkerisation unit at Nagaur in Rajasthan. The feasibility study for the project is completed and environmental clearance has also been received.
Besides, Ambuja plans to develop a new bulk cement terminal at Mangalore which is expected to be operational by September. A new brownfield expansion project to boost capacity at the Sankrail grinding facility in West Bengal has also commenced.
Ambuja in joint venture with IST Steel and Lafarge India is developing a coal block in Maharashtra allocated by the Coal Ministry for captive use. The project is estimated to cost Rs 350 crore and Ambuja Cements, which holds 27.27% stake in the venture, is investing Rs 95 crore. The project is awaiting statutory clearances like mining lease, environmental and forest nods.
