The India Cements is to invest around Rs 750 crore in its unit at Thalavai in Ariyalur district in Tamil Nadu to expand its existing capacity to 2 million tonnes, from the present 1.8 million tonne a year. The company is yet to finalise the mode of funding for the expansion. Meanwhile, the company has approached the MoEF to obtain clearances for the proposed expansion. Currently, India Cements has a total capacity of 15.5 million tonne, including 1.5 million tonne in Rajasthan.
