The Hyderabad
Metropolitan Development
Authority has identified
land for developing logistic
hubs or truck terminals to
provide parking facilities for
inbound and outbound
commercial heavy vehicles.
HMDA has identified
government land on eight
corridors with area ranging
from 20 to 40 acres. These
locations include Peddashapur,
Batasingaram, Muraharipally,
Mangalapally and Edulabad.
The authority has appointed
IL&FS-IDC as project advisor
for structuring the project on
PPP basis. The latter has
recommended the development
of integrated logistics hubs
and moderate logistics hubs/
truck terminals.
The logistics hubs will have rest
and recreation facilities for the
crew, vehicle repair and
maintenance facilities, and
commercial facilities for
sustaining logistics operations
and catering to the needs of
visitors and others.
According to statistics, more
than 30,000 freight vehicles ply
on the city roads daily with
around 1-lakh tonne cargo,
which works out to a demand for
warehousing space of about 10
lakh sqft and parking demand for
about 10,000 cargo vehicles.
HMDA is considering
developing two truck terminals at
Bata Singaram and Peddashapur
on a priority basis.
