Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has asked all apprising groups of Central Water Commission (CWC), Central Soil and Materials Research Station (CSMRS) and Geological Survey of India (GSI) for early clearance of DPRs of hydroelectric power project in Bhutan so that DPRs could be cleared by CEA from all aspects at an early date. In this regard, CEA also asked the project developers to resolve various issues of all apprising groups so that the DPR can be cleared at the earliest.
Speaking about NTPC’s 540-MW Amochhu project, CEA informed that the project DPR has been cleared from hydrology, foundation engineering & special analysis, power potential studies and design of electrical and mechanical equipment. Further, CEA has also sent comments on the DPR to NTPC on plant planning, financial & commercial, geological, civil engineering, power evacuation, design of electrical and mechanical equipments, gates design, hydel civil designs, concrete masonry dam design and instrumentation aspects. CEA asked NTPC to submit details of construction power arrangement, cost details and computation of unit rate of construction power.
With regards to NHPC’s 770- MW Chamkarchu-I project, CEA informed that the DPR was circulated in April 2012 and accepted for examination by the apprising groups in May 2012. Comments on DPR have been sent to NHPC on hydrology, power potential studies, cost of electrical and mechanical works, aspects related to civil engineering, financial and commercial, power evacuation and construction power in June 2012. At present, CEA is awaiting NHPC’s replies on the comments.
