Here is a good example of how fast government projects get executed in the country - Margherita Power Project. Though conceived in 2006, the power project in Assam has failed to move beyond the planning stage.

The project envisages setting up of Margherita power project with 500 MW (2 X 250 MW) in Tinsukia district of Assam by North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (Neepco) in joint venture (51:49) with Government of Assam. What is interesting is that the JVC is yet to be formed for this project and NEEPCO is blaming the state government for the delay. Interestingly, the draft joint venture agreement was finalized in 2008 but later on had to be modified on the power ministry's insistence to incorporate a revised power-sharing pact between the two companies.
