The first unit of ONGC Tripura
Power Company's 2x363.3-
MW Palatana combined
cycle gas-based power project in
Palatana is expected to be operational
by the end of this month
(May 2012) and the transmission
line associated with the
plant is scheduled to be completed
this year.
According to reports the 246-
km stretch between Palatana
(Tripura) and Silchar (Assam)
is nearing completion. This
represents the first phase
the 661-km transmission
line that will connect the Palatana
power plant to the national
grid at Bongaigaon. Another
stretch between Silchar
(Assam) and Byrnihat (Meghalaya)
will be operational by
August this year.
The transmission line is being
developed in PPP mode by
North-East Power Transmission
Company Ltd - a joint venture
between OTPC, Power Grid Corporation
of India and the beneficiary
states.
The power project, which is
a hall mark of Indo-Bangla
cooperation, will help ONGC
to monetise its idle gas assets
in Tripura.
