Uttarakhand to form JV for 3 hydel projects

The Uttarakhand government proposes to develop three major hydel projects of UJVN Ltd through joint ventures. The total investments in the three projects- the 300 Mw Bawla Nandprayag, 100 Mw Nandprayag Langasu, 250 Mw Tamaklata in Alaknanda valley of Chamoli district is estimated to be around Rs 4,500-5,000 crore.

This is the first time that the government has opted for a joint venture route for UJVN, which will hold 26 per cent equity in the proposed joint ventures. The tenders are expected to be floated shortly for developing the three projects. The total lease period for developing these projects would be 42 years, which includes 7 years for development of the project and 35 years for its operation. The detailed project reports have been prepared by UJVN.
