Automobile battery maker Exide Industries plans an investment of Rs 350 crore during the current financial year in capacity expansion of its plants across the country. The company is installing a high-end two-wheeler battery plant at Ahmednagar in Maharashtra which will have a capacity of producing seven million batteries per annum.
The company produces around 10 million two-wheeler batteries annually at its plants at Pune in Maharashtra and at Bawal in Haryana. The Ahmednagar plant is expected to commence production by July this year. Once the new plant is commissioned, the installed capacity of two-wheeler batteries will be close to 17 million units per annum.
