Haier India, a 100% subsidiary of Haier Group of China is investing Rs 100 crore to set up a new line at its plant at Pune, Maharashtra manufacture air conditioners and washing machines. Currently, the plant has capacity to manufacture four lakh units of refrigerators per annum. After the second line, which will be operational by August 2010, the capacity will increase to 4.75 lakh units by the end of 2010. The expansion is part of the company's plan to push its overall sales in India and touch Rs 3,000 crore by 2012.
Haier has recently launched 25 new models across all the product categories, including refrigerators, LCD/LED TVs and air conditioners. The company currently has two exclusive flagship stores and is planning to open 10 more stores shortly. The company plans to step up its branding and marketing activities and has earmarked an investment of Rs 50 crore on it for this year.
