Surya Roshni Ltd., a leading manufacturer of lighting products & components, is expected to commence production at its new lamp manufacturing plant at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh from April this year. The plant set up with an investment of Rs 100 crore will manufacture 33,000 high mast towers and octagonal streetlight poles annually. This is the company's second unit at Gwalior. Another manufacturing unit is at Nainital in Uttarakhand.
The company also plans to invest about Rs.550 crore on capacity expansion in its plants by March 2010, including Rs.50 crore in the existing Gwalior unit. It is also aiming to increase its annual turnover of Rs.1,700 crore to Rs.5,000 crore in the next two years and plans to employ 6,000 people in a year.
The company is also setting up a research and development (R&D) centre with German technology for research on energy-efficient lighting at Noida in Uttar Pradesh which is expected to be operational in the next six months.
