Citizen Metalloys Ltd, a leading
Ahmedabad-based manufacturer
of materials for the
electrical industry, is setting up a
new continuous cast wire rod
plant near Ahmedabad, close to its
existing plant at Chhatral in
Gandhinagar district.
Jayesh Shah, Managing Director,
Citizen Metalloys Ltd, told
Projectmonitor, "The company is
currently working out plans to set
up a new copper wire rod plant.
Copper wire rod is used in the
cable industry. It will be an 8mm
continuous cast wire rod plant and
it will come up near Ahmedabad.
The plant is expected to come up
in next one year." The company
was thinking of going along with a
partner, Shah added.
The new plant will have a production
capacity of around 5,000
tpa and will be constructed on 1
lakh sq. ft land area which has
been acquired. The output will be
fully utilised for the domestic market.
The total investment is estimated
at
20 crore.
The company is one of India's
largest manufacturers and
exporters of copper flats, rods,
bus bars, earthing tape, profiles,
solid copper earth rods and PVC
coated copper tubes.
The company's existing plant
at Chhatral exports around 25
per cent of its production capacity
of 3,000 tpa. Going forward,
it intends to increase exports to
50 per cent.
