Sanghvi Movers Ltd, one of the largest crane
hiring companies in India, is planning to
buy Rs 200 crore worth of material handling
and construction equipment from Sany Group, a
global player in construction machinery. This
will be in addition to the Rs 400 crore worth of
equipment the company purchased from Sany
in December 2009.
"The Rs 400-crore order will be completed by
November 2010. Thereafter, around June or July
2011, the company will purchase the additional
Rs 200 crore worth of equipment from Sany,"
Chandrakant P. Sanghvi, Chairman and Managing
Director, Sanghvi
Movers Ltd, told
Projectsmonitor.
On another note,
Sanghvi mentioned
that Indian crane
rental companies
faced hurdles such
as obtaining the necessary
government
approval to transport
cranes to project
sites within the
country.
Citing his own
company's experience, he said that recently
Sanghvi Movers completed work on a project
in Gujarat and was to transport its crane to
another project site in Uttar Pradesh. However,
the UP government did not grant permission
for as long as 40 days, resulting in a loss of
nearly Rs 60 lakh for the company.
Sanghvi also referred to other problems like
value added tax and service tax.
The Pune-headquartered Sanghvi Movers Ltd
is one of the largest crane hiring companies in
India, third largest in Asia, and ninth largest in
the world.
