AEG Power Solutions, a global
supplier of power electronics
systems and solutions,
has installed 40 MW of
solar projects since beginning
operations in India and it has
booked 34 MW orders since January
2012, when 33.5 MW had
been awarded for the year 2011,
a company release said.
The orders consisted of complete
electrical systems, including
inverters, monitoring and
measurement equipment, to
equip solar plants throughout
India, mostly in Gujarat.
The completed projects include
several within the 500-MW Solar
Park in Gujarat. The state's longterm
power purchase programme
involves agreements
with 80 project developers, to
commission almost 1,000 MW of
solar generation capacity by the
end of 2013. The AEG Power
Solutions 1-MW solar plant supplied
to EI Technologies was the
first project commissioned at the
Solar Park.
Sridhar Murthy, AEG Power
Solutions Managing Director
in India, said, "The successful
installations in Gujarat demonstrate
the reactivity and efficiency
of our team and show
that we are strengthening our
market position."
"We were aiming to be the first
developer to commission a plant
in the Gujarat Park and felt confident
that AEG Power Solutions'
expertise would help us do so,"
said N. Ranganath, Chairman
and Managing Director, EI
Technologies. "We selected AEG
Power Solutions over a dozen
competitors because of their
straightforward, honest
approach. They lived up to the
faith we bestowed on them, commissioning
our plant well before
the deadline."
All told, 11 MW of AEG Power
Solutions installations in India
had been commissioned by end
of 2011. The various installations
were built to multiple grid
evacuation voltages—11kV
33kV & 66kV.
AEG Power Solutions also successfully
executed projects for
Saisudhir Energy Ltd, as part of
the National Solar Mission.

India pushes up sales |
Solar sales on aggregate were up 165 per cent in 2011 with
growth coming from Eastern Europe and India where AEG
Power Solutions booked major projects both in solar inverters
and in monitoring systems, the company said. Sales in emerging
markets helped offset lower-than-anticipated performance in Western
Europe, where sovereign debt and concerns over budget
deficits held back growth and contributed to economic uncertainty.
The newly introduced Protect PV.500 improved the competitiveness
in central inverters and contributed to winning projects in
demanding markets such as India. In Bengaluru, a new 400-MW
solar inverter facility was officially opened in October 2011 and contributed
€6.0 million to solar sales in the fourth quarter.
In January 2012, the plant recorded orders for inverters and monitoring
solutions representing about 34 MW of generating capacity in
Q1 2012. All AEG Power Solutions inverters for Indian customers
are manufactured at the Bengaluru facility, which now employs
about 100 people.
