Caravel Logistics Pvt. Ltd, a multimodal
transportation company
from Chennai, plans to invest
around Rs 150 crore on acquiring
ships, setting up container freight
stations and buying rail rakes.
The investment, likely to be funded
through internal accruals and
debt, is aimed at achieving
Rs 1,000 crore turnover by 2015.
The company proposes to buy a
ship in the next three months
and another two in the following
fiscal. It initially plans to establish
a container freight station
on 15 acres between Chennai
and Ennore in Tamil Nadu. The
project, estimated to cost Rs 25
crore, would handle 3,000-3,500
teus in the first year of operations.
The other CFSs are
planned in Tuticorin (Tamil
Nadu), Mundra (Gujarat), Ludhiana
(Punjab) and Delhi. The
company will also invest around
Rs 45 crore on railway rakes.
