The wholesale price index of cement declined 4% in June leading
to a 3% drop in the composite WPI of non-metallic mineral
products over the month.
The WPI for machinery and machine tools increased by 0.1% due
to higher prices of air and gas compressors (3%) and ball bearings
(1%). However, the prices of hydraulic pumps (4%), material handling
equipment (2%) and enameled copper wires (1%) declined.
The WPI for transport equipment and parts was up by 0.8% due
to higher prices of broad gauge passenger carriage (8%), broad
gauge other coaching vehicles (4%), and bus chassis (diesel) and
truck chassis (diesel) (2% each).
The ERIL Index of Cost of Project Inputs escalated by 6.6% annually
in June 2010 against 6.2% decline in the corresponding
period a year ago.
