Diamond Power completes backward integration
A BUSINESS CORRESPONDENT
Wednesday, May 12, 2010, 16:02 Hrs  [IST]

diamond.jpgDiamond Power Infrastructure Ltd has achieved a major backward integration milestone by commissioning a PVC compound manufacturing facility. Located at village Vadadala in Vadodara district, Gujarat, the plant recently began commercial operations. Set up with an investment of Rs 8 crore, the unit is capable of manufacturing 18,000 tonnes per year of various PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) compounds that are used in the manufacture of such cables.

Diamond Power manufacturers around 40,000 km per year of assorted LT and HT cables in which compounds are very critical inputs—both in terms of cost and quality.

With the new unit, DPIL expects to meet 70 per cent of its requirement in-house.
