After receiving many complaints
from locals, visitors
wearing short skirts and
bare shoulders (who always
happened to be foreigners)
are not allowed near the
sanctum sanctorum of 15th century
Virupaksha Temple
in Hampi, a Unesco world
heritage site in Karnataka.
The new rule has been laid
down to prevent distraction
of local visitors who would
otherwise concentrate on
the bare-bodied foreign visitors
than on Virupaksha!
The new rule seems to be
working as the number of
visitors has remained
unchanged even after the
dress code.
