Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is expected to firm up plans for
the ambitious
bullet train project on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai-
Pune section and Ahmedabad-Dholera Metro section during his
ongoing four-day visit to Japan. Modi is also likely to discuss projects
for two industrial parks to be set up by Japan in Gujarat as part of the
Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor. Gujarat has a major share, in
terms of the land portion, in the interstate DMIC project that is being
executed in collaboration with the Government of Japan.
A delegation of envoys from
seven Latin American and
Caribbean countries have
evinced interest in the invitation
by Government of Gujarat
for setting up a
special economic
zone for wood, timber
and marble artisans at a site
along the coast of Gujarat.
This is in addition to other industrial and manufacturing projects.
Mitsubishi Corporation (India) Pvt. Ltd has evinced interest in ramping
up investments in Gujarat. CMD Keiichi Nakagaki met CM
Narendra Modi to discuss various projects that included a
fertiliser
complex at Dahej in partnership with Zuari, a steel-based unit to
cater to the auto industries in partnership with Metal One India Pvt.
Ltd, an aluminium extrusion plant and a modern common effluent
treatment and water recyling plant in Sanand, and an environmentlly
sound ship recycling yard improvement project in Alang.
Metro Link Express for Gandhinagar Ahmedabad (MEGA) Company
has invited EOI for a
rail project in Gujarat. The tender pertains
to the supply, installation and commissioning of power supply and
traction electrification system for the Ahmedabad Metro-cum-
Regional rail project in the state. The project is estimated to cost

12,000 crore.
