The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has
sanctioned Rs 90.12 crore as loan assistance to the Government for building
rural infrastructure in various districts of the State. The projects have
been sanctioned under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF XVI)
and the projects sanctioned cover rural roads, bridges, social sector
projects, including backward class hostels, secondary schools, first-grade
colleges and industrial training institutes. The cumulative sanction to the
State in 2010-11 stood at Rs 372.94 crore.
Most of the projects sanctioned have been for works in the 14 districts,
severely affected by floods last year. The implementation of 78 rural road &
bridge projects is expected to benefit 18 districts connecting 693 villages.
