Cairn Energy India has struck oil at coast of Andhra Pradesh

Cairn Energy India Ptv Ltd, a whollyowned subsidiary of Cairn India, has struck oil at a well in block KGONN- 2003/1 in KG basin off the coast of Andhra Pradesh. According to the company, a flow of 75 bpd of oil and 0.27 mcfpd of gas was achieved during drill stem tests. The well and test results are being evaluated to assess the commercial potential of the discovery and to determine the future appraisal programme. The company, with 49 per cent stake, is the operator in the block, while ONGC Ltd holds the remaining 51 per cent participating interest. Cairn was awarded the block under NELP-V.
