GAIL Gas Ltd, a subsidiary
of GAIL (India)
Ltd which undertakes
city gas distribution
projects, has asked the Ministry
of Petroleum and Natural
Gas, to enhance gas allocation
from the KG-D6 field for its
CGD projects.
The company has sought
increase in gas allocation from
0.79 mmscmd in 2010-11 to 1.94
mmscmd by 2013-14.
According to GAIL Gas, the
allocation from KG-D6 field will
enable the company to supply
natural gas to customers in the
domestic, industrial, commercial
and transport sector at a
competitive price and help to
develop natural gas as an economical
and environment friendly
source of energy.
GAIL Gas has been authorised
to execute CGD projects
in Sonepat (Haryana), Meerut
(Uttar Pradesh), Kota
(Rajasthan) and Dewas (Madhya
Pradesh) in addition to
Vadodara (Gujarat) and Firozabad
(Uttar Pradesh). The
company has commissioned a
CNG station at Dewas and
commenced industrial supply
in Dewas and Sonepat. The
CNG station at Sonepat is
ready for commissioning; CNG
dispensing has started at Vadodara;
and steel pipeline works
are in progress in Sonepat,
Meerut, Kota and Dewas.
According to company sources,
new gas supply agreements with
industrial consumers have been
signed in large numbers.
In addition to the demand for
higher gas allocation, GAIL Gas
has urged the petroleum ministry
to enhance the exclusive
allocation for the domestic and
transport sectors as well as make
allocations for industrial and
commercial segments against
the CGD projects undertaken in
all the cities mentioned.
