Landed price of gas from TAPI pipeline (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India) is expected to be in the range of $ 10/mmbtu. Thus, TAPI gas will be about 3.75 $/MMBTU cheaper than imported LNG.
Gas Sales Purchase Agreement (GSPA) between four countries was finalized in December 2010 and it took nearly 15 months to finalise the transit fees. Though 1700 km pipeline project was conceived in 1990s, India joined the project only in 2008. The pipeline will have an estimated carrying capacity of 90 MMcm per day, of which 14 MMcm per day will be supplied to Afghanistan and 38 MMcm per day each to India and Pakistan.
