The Andhra Pradesh government
has issued orders for
acquisition and transfer of
5,324 acres of land for the
Machilipatnam deep-water port
in Krishna district.
Of the total required land,
4,800 acres will be utilised for
the port, and the remaining for
public utilities. The advance
possession of 1,623 acres will be
handed over to the director of
ports very soon. However, the
state government has stated that
the DoP should give the land on
lease to the port developer, the
Navayuga Group, with prior
approval. The project has been
proposed to be developed on a
BOOT basis.
