BGR Energy Systems Ltd, the
EPC contractor for the 600-
mw (1x600 mw) thermal
power project for Tamil Nadu
Electricity Board at Mettur in
Salem district, has successfully
lifted and erected a boiler drum
weighing 220 tonnes at a height of
76.5 metres. The company has
also started the structural erection
of ESP and CHP.
The Mettur project is an expansion
of TNEB's existing 4x210 mw
thermal power project. The total
contract value of this project is
around Rs 3,100 crore. The scope
of work consists of design, engineering,
supply of boiler, steam
turbine generator, and complete
balance-of-plant equipment.
"The successful completion of
boiler erection in record time is
testimony of the company's abilities
and thrust on on-time delivery
of contracts," said B.G. Raghupathy,
Chairman and Managing
Director, BGR Energy.
Meanwhile, the air fin cooler
division of BGR Energy has won
four contracts for design, engineering
and supply of air cooled
heat exchangers valued at a little
over Rs 62 crore.
The company secured two
orders worth Rs 46.45 crore from
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd for
design, engineering and supply
of 127 carbon steel bundles and
eight duplex bundles for 15 million
tpa grassroots refinery being
set up at Paradip, Orissa. The
steel bundles will be delivered by
February 2011.
The company also bagged an
order from Jindal Steel and Power
Ltd for supply of 18 carbon steel
bundles for its 12.5-million tpa
integrated steel plant being set up
at Angul in Orissa. The order will
be executed by January 2011.
Technip KT, the EPC contractor
for the HPCL refinery in Visakhapatnam,
awarded an order for
22 carbon steel bundles and two
stainless steel bundles for hydrogen
generation unit and diesel
hydro-treating hydrogen generation
unit of the refinery. The contract
is scheduled for completion
by September this year.
