Airports Authority of India (AAI) has completed the new terminal building
of the Shillong airport, formerly known as Umroi airport, in Meghalaya.
The terminal, built at a cost of

30 crore, is equipped with latest equipment
like explosive trace detectors, baggage x-ray machines, and closecircuit
cameras. Meanwhile, AAI had acquired 224.16 acres of land for
expansion to facilitate landing of bigger aircrafts. The new runway will be
lengthened to 7,500 feet from the present runway of 6,000 feet and will
be realigned with the existing runway.
