
Government of Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned

6.25 crore
towards the first installment of its annual share of

25 crore
allocated for the second phase of Hyderabad Multi-Modal
Suburban Rail Transport System during 2012-13. The MMTS
Phase-II project is estimated to cost

632 crore. The project will be
funded by the state with two-thirds of the cost and the rest by Indian
Railways. The central government has sanctioned

99 crore for the
project in the railway budget.
In March 2012, the Cabinet
Committee on Infrastructure
approved the second
phase of the MMTS. A
SPV will be formed
between the Indian Railways
and the state to implement
the project. Work on
the project is expected to
begin after the railway
board approves the proposed model of the SPV and scheduled for
completion during the current Five-Year Plan (2012-17).
Under Phase-II—Falaknuma-International Airport, Tellapur-
Patancheru, Secunderabad-Bolarum, Sanathnagar-Moula Ali,
Moula Ali-Malkajgiri-Sitaphalmandi, Bolarum-Medchal and Moula
Ali-Ghatkesar—sections will be developed.
