In a bid to transformer existing
railway stations into worldclass
stations, the Ministry of
Railways has initiated the process
of appointing consultants for six
major stations-Secunderabad,
Howrah, Sealdah, Kolkata,
Chennai Central and Anand
Vihar. This was announced
by Union Minister of State
for Railways K.H. Muniyappa in
the Lok Sabha recently.
Consultancy works and preparation
of master plan and feasibility
report have already been
taken up for New Delhi, CST
Mumbai and Patna stations. The
projects, to be developed on PPP
basis, are expected to take five to
six years to complete.
