MMRDA plans multimodal corridor

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has appointed Louis Berger Group Inc. as techno-economic and financial feasibility consultant for the 140-km Virar-Alibaug multimodal corridor project.

The multimodal corridor has been divided in two phases-90-km from Virar to Panvel (phase-I) and 50-km from Panvel to Alibaug (phase-II). It will start from Virar on NH-18 and end at Alibaug on NH-17 via Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Dombivli and Panvel.

The corridor will pass through Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Dombivli, Mira Road, Bhayandar, Bhiwandi, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, Kulgaon, Nalasopara, Vasai, Virar, Navaghar, Alibaug, Karjat, Khopoli, Matheran, Panvel, Penand and Uran.

The entire project is estimated to cost Rs 10,000 crore which will be implemented on PPP basis.
