Delhi - Lucknow NH to be four-laned by December 2013

The 500-km Delhi Lucknow National Highway will be four laned by December,
2013. Some stretches are already four laned and the remaining stretches are
at various stages of implementation. The four-laning of the section of NH-24
from Delhi/UP border to Hapur (km.8.00 to km.58.00) is completed. The
construction of four laning of Hapur - Garhmukteshwar section (km.58.00 to
km.93.00) which was scheduled for completion by September 2007 had been
delayed due to delay in tree cutting, shifting of utilities/electric lines
and removal of encroachment. It is now expected to be completed by December
2011.
The four-laning of the section from Garhmukteshwar to Moradabad (km.93.00
to km.149.25) is completed. Agreement for four laning of Moradabad -
Bareilly-Sitapur section (km.149.25 to km.km.413.200) has been signed with
concession period 25 years including 30 months construction period. The
construction of four laning of Sitapur - Lucknow section (km.413.200 to
km.488.270) was scheduled for completion in June 2009 was delayed due to
land acquisition & encroachment removal problems. The section from
km.488.270 to km.500.00 is already four laned. Regular monitoring and review
of projects is being done by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for
completion of four laning of NH-24.
