Peripheral expressway projects delayed
PM NEWS BUREAU
Tuesday, February 09, 2010, 17:07 Hrs  [IST]

The Centre is keen to soon complete the eastern and western peripheral expressway projects connecting NH-1, 2, 8 & 10 in Haryana and NH-2 & NH-24 in Uttar Pradesh. The Centre has asked the two states to complete the projects by sorting out all pending issues.

The 135-km Western Peripheral Expressway between Kundli and Palwal, which was scheduled to complete in July 2009, is only 32 per cent complete and is expected to complete by this year-end. Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation has spent Rs 764 crore on acquisition of land, toll plazas, relocation of utilities and diversion of forest land for this project.

The construction of the 105-km Eastern Peripheral Expressway from Kundli to Faridabad via Ghaziabad and Noida is facing land problems.
