The road along the side of the Kollam Canal from Kallupaalam to
Kochupilamoodu in Kollam district of Kerala, is being developed & widened in
view of a new bridge coming up across the canal at Kochupilamoodu. The road
widening is expected to ease traffic congestion along the Chinnakkada and
will also be a link road for traffic to the Kollam Port. The road widening
project is being undertaken at a cost of Rs 90 lakh & is expected to be
completed in seven months.
The road to Vaddy from the Pukayila-Pandakasala Bridge is also being
widened to 12.5 metres. The land has to be acquired and paper notification
for the same is expected to be issued soon. This road cuts through the
Kallupaalam-Kochupilamoodu road at the Pandakasala bridge and will serve as
yet another route for vehicles to pass without creating traffic snarls in
the city.
