The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) plans to set up
a coconut industrial park at Kuttiadi, near Kozhikode. KSIDC is currently
looking for a consultant to prepare a detailed project report and suggest
the product mix for the project park.
The Kuttiyadi Coconut Park is proposed to be set up on 131 acres of land in
the Manimala Estate in Velom Panchayath, near Kuttiyadi town. A common
facility centre, power sub-station, water supply points and other
infrastructure will come up on 16 acres of the park. A coconut based
industrial complex including a coconut wood based power project is also
proposed. The balance 110 acres of the park project will be leased out to
private entrepreneurs to set up for setting up units for manufacturing
coconut-based value-added products.
The Kuttiyadi Coconut Park Ltd., a special purpose vehicle formed with 50%
equity participation by State Govt. & KSIDC and the balance by private
investors. The project is expected to cost Rs 41 crores in the first phase.
The Coconut Development Board has contributed Rs 12.75 crore for the project
which is expected to be commissioned by December 2011.
