Kobelco commences production at AP crane plant

Kobelco Cranes India Pvt Ltd, subsidiary of Kobelco Cranes of Japan has commenced commercial production at its plant at Sri City, a 7000-acre private industrial park in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. Set up with an investment of Rs 280 crore, the plant will have an annual capacity to produce cranes with hauling capacity ranging between 100 tonnes and 260 tonnes. The company plans to increase production capacity and roll out higher capacity crawler cranes by 2013.
This is Kobelco’s first production facility outside Japan to manufacture of complete crawler cranes and the second subsidiary of Japanese Kobe Steel Group to set up base at Sri City. The other company Kobelco Construction Equipment India manufactures excavators.
