Telecom transmission equipment maker Teracom has bagged a Rs 104 crore project from BSNL to provide a Fibre-to-the-Home network (FTTH), a type of broadband connection, that will deliver high-speed voice, video and data services to subscribers. BSNL will be the first telco in the country to deploy a FTTH network on a commercial basis, Teracom said in a statement.
BSNL delivers applications for transmission of data, voice and video at a higher speed (in excess of 100 Mb/s). The company's FTTH network would also provide subscribers high-speed gaming, high-definition video conferencing & entertainment applications. The company plans to implement similar FTTH networks in 25 cities across India by the year 2012.
