National Textile Corporation Ltd is hopeful of completing the construction of three new mills at Hassan in Karnataka, Achalpur in Maharashtra and Ahmedabad in Gujarat in the next three to six months. The three projects are being set up at an estimated cost of Rs 650 crore. Upon completion, the combined production capacity of the three units will be around 1.32 lakh spindles.
NTC is also in the process of setting up a new mill in Rajasthan. The technical textile unit is planned to be established at Udaipur Cotton Mills, Beawer. It will produce geotextiles (non-woven and woven) which is special variant used in construction and road projects.
The public sector company also proposed to modernise two more, Coimbatore Spg. & Wvg. Mills, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and Tirupathi Cotton Mills, Renigunta, Andhra Pradesh.
NTC is currently modernising its 22 mills from funds generated through sale of assets. Of these, 17 mills have been modernised with the installation of hi-tech machines.
