Gujarat earmarks Rs 350 cr for infra, tourism development

The Gujarat government has earmarked rs1.jpg 350 crore this fiscal for infrastructure and development of tourism in the state, to make Gujarat a leading global tourist destination.

The state government has roped in Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan to promote tourism. It has developed Saputara as a modern hill station at an investment of rs1.jpg 150 crore to attract both domestic and foreign travellers. The inflow of foreign tourist in the state has gone up significantly in the first six months of the year compared to the same period in 2009. Tourist arrival has increased by at least 40 per cent during the six months.
