By March 2012 residents in the western part of Vadodara are likely to get water supply sourced from Narmada river. The project, taken up under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM), plans to lift water from Narmada canal near Sherkhi and pump it to Khanpur. Khanpur waterworks project would then treat the water and supply it to residents. While pumping station and water supply pipeline are ready, water treatment plant is likely to be commissioned in next 2-3 months. Once complete, the project would supply 75 million litres per day (MLD) water to the city.
