Sewage treatment plants:
Sewage treatment is the process
of removing contaminants from
domestic or household wastewater
by the following points: In
physical separation there is
removal of solids, oil and grease;
biological treatment by isolated
bacteria to remove organic load;
filtration by sand and carbon filters
followed by disinfection of
bacteria; and treated water can be
recycled for reuse in gardening,
toilet flushing and floor washing
and can be used in production by
adding further treatment. It is
applicable where sewage generation
is more than 5m3/day in
industries or residential areas.
Effluent treatment plants: Industrial
effluent consists of polluted
water from industrial and chemical
process. This discharge usually
contains specific pollutants,
which are related to nature of
product and process followed by
industries, namely, after physical
separation, Western Enviro Solutions
neutralised the effluent by
various chemicals to reduce maximum
load; biological treatment
by specifically isolated bacteria
for a particular effluent type; filtration
by activated carbon filter for
fast absorption by maximum pore
size; disinfection by chlorine;
plant design on the basis of treatability
study; sustainable project
design for increased flow rates
and COD/BOD loads; need-based
specific; and isolated bacteria for
specific projects for biological
treatment of various effluents.
Biological treatments include
Activated Sludge Process (ASP) or
Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR)
with combined sewage as well as
effluent treatment set-up. Projects
provided for effluent treatment of
chromium, cyanide, zinc, nickel,
coolant, sugar, dairy, wineries and
food processing.
Filtration plants: It is generally
used for removing the turbidity or
suspended solids from water due
to the various sand media.
Carbon filters: It is generally
used for the removal of turbidity or
suspended solid, colour, odour
and chloride from the water.
Application: Sand and carbon filter
used for pre-treatment of water
treatment plant and post-treatment
for wastewater treatment.
Softeners: Softening is the
removal of hardness in the form of
calcium magnesium and is based
on softening resin treatment.
Applications: It is used for industrial
purposes where process
requires soft water softener. It is
also used in softening of drinking
water.
Demineralisation plants: For
removal of anionic and cationic
minerals from the water to reduce
conductivity. Applications: It is
generally used in groundwater,
chemical processing salts
removal, sweeteners, wastewater,
water softening, chelating resins
polymeric absorbent resins, electroplating,
high-pressure boilers
and power coating.
Reverse osmosis: This system is
capable of removing the dissolved
organic and inorganic compounds
or total dissolved solids.
Application: It is extensively used
for industrial purposes where
water requirement is TDS less as
well as for drinking purposes.
