Alagiri was suspended from DMK for saying that Stalin would die in three months. Not that the DMK chief was furious about his son’s poor knowledge of history, as the de facto leader of the Soviet Union from the mid-1920s had passed away six decades ago, but Karunanidhi was peeved at the fact that Alagiri was predicting the death of his second son (or first son of second wife?).

But Alagiri immediately corrected his statement by saying, “Stalin will not die in three months.” But the octogenarian father is still not happy because Alagiri had used an adverb “unfortunately” in his rejoinder!
