As per the original schedule three units of 3X660 MW super critical thermal power project should have been completed January 2009, July 2009 and January 2010. But that did not happen and the completion deadline was revised to October 2013, April 2014 and October 2014 respectively which also could not be achieved. Now the first unit of the 3×660 MW Barh super thermal power project is likely to come up only by April, 2016, almost after a 30 month delay from the revised commissioned date.

NTPC, the project promoter has blamed the Russian contractor, Technopromexport. It is learnt that the Russian contractor is reeling under heavy financial constraint and the latest revised deadline too may be missed unless this problem is resolved immediately. In fact, NTPC has approached the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene and resolve the issue.
