Bhatia Energy & Minerals Private Ltd’s (BEMPL) coal washery project at Kharsia, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh is delayed by six months. However, the reasons for delay are not known. The project is likely to be commissioned by October 2014. Earlier it was scheduled for commissioning in April.

The project involves setting up of a coal washery (0.96 million tpa) and a dolomite crushing unit with a capacity of 0.4 million tpa. The project also includes laying of railway siding close to the plant area which is around 12km away from Chhal coal mine of South Eastern Coalfields Ltd in Chhattisgarh to facilitate handling of inward movement of raw coal and dispatch of washed coal by railway. The project is estimated to cost Rs 60 crore which will be funded through debt of Rs.40 crore and equity of Rs.20 crore.
