The Goa investment promotion board has cleared 11 proposals that includes the setting up of two marinas worth a total of Rs.1,137 crore. The marinas are proposed to be developed at Bambolim and Sancoale. A marina is a specially designed harbour for docking of pleasure crafts and yachts, which often also includes service areas, recreational zones and water sports agencies. Yacht Haven (Goa) has proposed to build a marina at Sancoale in Mormugao taluka and Kargwal Constructions intends to build a marina at Nauxim village in Tiswadi taluka.

Besides the two marinas, the board has also cleared nine industrial projects.

Varun Beverages, at Sanguem Industrial Estate, has been given permission to expand and commence operations of a project that requires an investment of Rs.54 crore. Cartini India’s Rs.75-crore proposal to start operations at Marcaim Industrial Estate has also been approved. FabOxy Laundry Service has got the nod to initiate its Rs.5.22-crore project. Putzmeister Concrete Machines can go ahead construction work on its Rs.4.5-crore project at Verna Industrial Estate. Barmalt Malting (India)’s project worth Rs.250 crore at Sanguem was also approved. A Rs.2-crore project of Andrew Telecommunications India at Verna Industrial Estate has also been approved by the board.

The investment promotion board also approved Ace Hotels & Resorts’ Rs.7.5-crore project at Quepem. Belladona Plasters also obtained approval to go ahead with its Rs.30-crore project at Curti, Ponda.
