City and Industrial Development Corporation would request the Project Monitoring and Implementation Committee for extending the bid time for request for qualification for the Navi Mumbai International Airport project from the earlier date for submission of June 18.

According to sources, Tata Realty and Infrastructure in a joint venture with Ferrovial SA of Spain has evinced interest for the RfQ floated on February 5, 2014. During the pre-bid meeting held during the first week of April, the 11 bidders who participated have requested Cidco to extend the last date of submission of bids.

The Rs.15,000-crore project, conceived about two decades ago, has been delayed a lot because of land related hurdles. To be spread over 2,500 acres of land, the project would comprise of two parallel runways, holding bays, terminal of 523,000 sq.m with a capacity to handle 60 million passengers per year by 2030. The project is expected to be completed in phases.
