Gurgaon metro rail project linking Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) Sikandarpur Station to Sector-56 in Gurgaon may not meet its revised deadline of March 2015. Rapid Metrorail Gurgaon South Limited (RMGSL), the special purpose vehicle created to implement the project, has spent only around 20% of the project cost till the end of January 2014. With the current pace of work, it seems March 2015 deadline may be missed. As per the original schedule Gurgaon metro rail project should have commenced operations in January, 2013.

Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has granted concession to RMGSL, owned by IL&FS, for a period of 98 years to implement the project and its subsequent operation and maintenance. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs.2,143 crore and will be funded through debt and equity in the ratio of 2.33:1.
