Hyderabad Metro Rail is at an advanced stage of acquisition of about 81 properties aimed at providing right of way for the construction of the 72- km-long elevated metro rail project. At a Special Task Force meeting by the Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, the acquisition of properties and right of way issues were addressed while seeking to expedite the project implementation. NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, said that most of the right of way issues have been sorted out.

Demolition drive

Other than the Transstroy building in Jubilee Hills, the remaining critical properties have either been acquired or are in the final stages of being acquired. The front portion of Rak Ceramics and Meenakshi Jewellery buildings have been demolished and Padmahamsa apartments in Secunderabad is at the award stage. While 81 properties are in different stages of acquisition, they are mostly meant for widening roads to facilitate better traffic movement in the Metro corridors.
