water aerodromes The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is in the process of seeking green nod from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) for three water aerodromes in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the first-of-its-kind in the country.

It intends to develop water aerodromes in Long Island, Swaraj Island and Shaheed Island. The projects will see a total investment of Rs 50 crore. It will seek clearance for preparing the Terms of References (ToR) separately for three airports.

These airports are part of the 10 water aerodromes that the Centre intends to develop. The proposed project will lead to increase in tourism, hotel business at local level and create employment.
