The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the following national highway projects:

* Development of the four-laning of the 104-km Singhara-Binjabahal section of NH-6 in Odisha under NHDP-Phase IV. The cost of project is estimated at Rs. 1,077 crore.

* Development of the four-laning of the 99-km Nagina-Kashipur section of NH-74 in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 1,471 crore.

* Development of the four-laning of the 126-km Lucknow-Sultanpur section of NH-56 in Uttar Pradesh. The cost of project is estimated at Rs. 1,325 crore.

All three projects fall under NHDP-Phase IV. The cost of each of the projects includes the cost of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation, and other pre-construction activities. The projects will be developed in BOT-Toll mode on DBFOT basis.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced that it had upgraded and strengthened 22,345 km of national highways while 12,625 km were in various stages of implementation, as October 31, 2014. These numbers are out of a total of 54,478 km of national highways in India, including the eastern state of West Bengal. The balance length will be completed in a phased manner.

The road projects are being executed through various phases of the National Highways Development Project of National Highways Authority of India, a public sector entity. The projects are being implemented through various modes of delivery and through various agencies.
