Tata Steel is aiming to complete the second phase of Kalinganagar steel project in Odisha by the end of financial year 2018. Presently, work on the first phase is going on and the project is expected to be complete by the end of this financial year. In the second phase the company plans to add a cold rolling mill.

The Kalinganagar steel project is a Greenfield steel project and involves setting up of six million TPA integrated steel plant at Kalinganagar Industrial Complex near Duburi in Jajpur district of Odisha. The project is being implemented in two phases, each phase will add 3 million TPA capacity. The total project cost is estimated to be around Rs 40,000 crore. The Kalinganagar facility will enable Tata Steel to enter and have a significant presence in segments such as Oil & Gas, Lifting & Excavation, Infrastructure, Defence, Shipbuilding, Energy, Power, etc.
