Rail Chhattisgarh_ProjectsMonitorIrcon International Ltd has completed detailed survey between Kharsia and Korichhapar of theEast corridor railway project which is being implemented by Chhattisgarh East Railway Limited. Also land acquisition papers for the stretch from Korichhapar to Dharamjaigarh in the East corridor are being finalized and alignment from Dharamjaigarh to Korba has also been finalized and necessary documents for land acquisition are being prepared.

Ircon has awarded survey of the 122 km East-West Railway corridor project to DIMTS Ltd. Ircon has also appointed a consultant for diversion of forest land including preparation of resettlement and rehabilitation works, obtaining land awards and other services for the East Corridor from Kharsia to Dhramjaygarh.

In 2012, two joint venture companies were formed, namely, Chhattisgarh East Railway Limited and Chhattisgarh East-West Railway Limited to develop two rail corridors at a cost of about Rs. 4,000 crore to facilitate movement of passengers as well as freight, primarily coal from Chhattisgarh. East Corridor will be about 180 km in length from Bhupdevpur-Gharghoda-Dharamjaygarh up to Korba. East West Corridor will be of about 122 km from Gevra Road to Pendra. Chhattisgarh state government has 10 per cent each equity stake in both the joint ventures while Ircon holds 26 per cent stake in these companies. Balance 64 per cent is held by South Eastern Coalfields Limited.
